My Perspective on Government Relations
Today’s climate is an opportunity to reevaluate the approach to policymaking at all levels of government, creating new avenues to establish and maintain relationships and foster goodwill without sacrificing the ability to achieve legislative and rulemaking success.
Communicating to Expand & Develop Policy
Whether it is pitching or building relationships with media, messaging a variety of audiences, preparing briefing materials and talking points, engaging organizational members or improving internal staff systems, I have done it all and more. I’ve created and executed strategic communications plans for just about every situation and have consistently used proven models to deliver the necessary information as effectively as possible.
Thoughtful Approach and Relationships
As I've been responsible for a portfolio of state legislative actions (often exceeding 20 during any given legislative session), it is very important to reach out to new and upcoming leaders to establish relationships. Over my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of issues, including public health, Medicaid/CMS, state agency regulations and policies, state appropriations, business incentives, public education, and private property rights. I have built meaningful relationships with community and organization leaders as well as elected officials at all levels of government in several states, and created or participated in various public/private partnerships and coalitions.
Calm, Thorough Approach to Strategy
If you ask my current or former colleagues, you’ll find that my approach to any issue is level-headed and collaborative. I enjoy being part of a team, empowering others, and working toward common goals. Personally, I consider ambition both a trait and an action - nobody wins with complacency. I have proven myself capable of making quick, informed decisions when necessary to press forward to the finish line on any issue.
